Description: | Loading the wctdm module freezes the system for a few seconds. That's not a good idea. One reason among many: Some systems have storage controllers which need regular keepalives. "Load wctdm, lose your disk" isn't a good use case. :-P | ||
Comments: | By: Leif Madsen (lmadsen) 2008-10-21 09:11:11 Do you have the ability to point out where in the code this freeze is happening? By: Tzafrir Cohen (tzafrir) 2008-10-21 15:13:01 specifically: load it with debug=1 . Where do you see delays? By: Matthias Urlichs (smurfix) 2008-10-21 15:46:00 Give me a few days; I need to rebuild the kernel with timestamps. :-/ By: Jason Parker (jparker) 2008-11-18 14:34:21.000-0600 Any luck with getting the requested information? By: Shaun Ruffell (sruffell) 2008-11-25 15:18:16.000-0600 smurfix, depending on your kernel version, you might be able to enable timestamps with echo 1 > /sys/module/printk/parameters/printk_time without rebuilding the kernel.
