Description:While working on documentation for Asterisk, Jim and I realized that the truncation length of the output of 'sip show peers' is 11 characters. Because we're now telling people a best practice (both in the book, and I believe in the best practices document shipped with Asterisk) is to use a MAC address for the username, it only seems logical to increase this from 11 chars to 12 chars in order to see the entire MAC address.

****** ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ******

I'd suggest this only be changed in trunk and for it to be ready for 1.8.

Not to start an "arms race" or to have oej say "I told you so" but do you think you could make the truncation occur at 13-digits? Or even better make it configurable in sip.conf or some such?  Same for sip show subscriptions too.

We use MAC addresses ourselves but on devices with multiple line appearances we append another digit to differentiate the individual appearances hence the request for 13-digits.

Thanks for your consideration.

My understanding was this was at least moved to 12 chars in trunk, and perhaps more. At this point I'm going to close this request because the way to REALLY fix this is the stuff discussed on the mailing list.
