Description:I am having a peculiar issue with outbound proxy support in asterisk
1.4.26.2/1.4.26.3.

I have had a look through the sip.conf sample and from my
understanding as long as a sip account is defined as a friend or a
peer we should be able to set the "outboundproxy" setting for the
account to the sip proxy.

We have our sip accounts defined in a database using the realtime
engine. We have also defined the following two settings for the
outbound proxy:

outboundproxy=sip.proxy.com
outboundproxyport=sip.proxy.port

The users are all defined as friends.

When I attempt an outbound call the sip trace shows that asterisk is
trying to contact the remote endpoint directly and not via the
outbound proxy.

I forgot to mention that the same symptoms apply when trying the above with the latest SVN revision.

Can you revert back to something like 1.4.24 and 1.4.21 to see if the issue is a regression?

1.4.24 exhibits the same behavior. The SIP trace shows that asterisk is trying to contact the endpoint directly and not via the outboundproxy definition.

I will try 1.4.21 shortly.

The outboundproxy setting works correctly with Asterisk 1.4.21. This must be a regression in post 1.4.21 versions.

I'm closing this per Russell as this is not an issue since this is not supported in 1.4. It is a 1.6.x feature that has been added.
