it appears that chan sip doesn't clean everything on reload, and keeps stray information from previous versions of the configuration, leading to 401 errors on incoming calls because it's looking for a peer that has disappeared.

a complete restart of the switch fixes the problem.

401 is not an error really - it's an authentication challenge. We need more informatin from you and SIP debug output that shows that we're still trying to match a peer that supposedly should have been removed.

I had it... it scrolled out of screen ;(
I'm sure of seeing some message about not being able to find a non-existant peer..
of course, I can't seem to reproduce it now...

there's no "horsfall_free" anymore in the list... yet... I'm still getting messages about it

Can you please retry on a newer version of 1.6.2.0? I can't find any other issues in the issue tracker related to this one, and you're the only one who seems to be having this issue, so I'd like to verify upgrading doesn't resolve this issue.

If it doesn't, please provide sip debug, sip history, and console output with debugging enabled.

This is probably best done by reproducing the issue with the 'full' logging option in logger.conf and attaching that file. Please filter out only the stuff that is applicable to this issue.
