Description:Asterisk build hangs and computer hangs after gtk-config check when running configure.

This is clearly not true in general, so please supply detailed information about your computer that might suggest why it is different from the average.

Also, what do you mean by the "the computer hangs".  There is nothing that configure, or a non-install make, should be able to do that would cause a bug free OS to hang, so a hanging computer is prima facie evidence of an OS or hardware problem.  In fact you should be able to run configure and make as a non-root user, and if it hangs then, you have a hardware problem, or you have a denial of service, or worse, security problem in the OS.

Thanks David for responding. I've posted text files of the configure output to the point where it hangs and thereafter I can't even use the PC and I have also include uname and cpuinfo output.

Maybe there is a check that fails earlier on and is required in the later checks.

I have only experienced problems with the gigabyte chipset when I was installing Linux and the X11 software.

Could there be a known problem for Asterisk with gigabyte chipsets?

More likely, you have hardware issues.  The most likely culprit these days is bad memory, although an overheating northbridge can have the same effect.

Closing this issue as it is likely a hardware issue.
