Description:The state information for a particular phone is updated correctly on incoming calls ("core show hints" results in "State:Ringing" and "State:InUse" as it should) but not on outgoing calls (when the user on the phone calls a different number the state information remains "State:Idle").

There have been a ton of changes since beta9 relating to device states.  Could you please update to the latest 1.6.0 SVN and try again?

We have now tried SVN-branch-1.6.0-r134164-/trunk.
The same problem still exists.

Okay, we'll need to see the actual output, first of 'core show hints', and then the console output while a call is being placed.

I have attached a file with debug output and "core show hints" for a call from extension 3013 to extension 3190. Extension 3013 is shown as "State:Idle" before, during (ringing and in use) and after the call.

rzuw: do you have a call-limit set on these peers?  There doesn't need to be any particular limit; you could the value to 500, for example.

By: Helmut Celina (rzuw) 2008-09-17 04:43:54

Of course we have set a call-limit, otherwise we could not get the status info in the core show hints -output. Our limit is set to 5.
By the way, our problem is not with the status of the called number, but rather with the status of the calling number.
The problem still exists with version 1.6.0-rc6.

Is the SIP peer with the problem a "peer" or "friend" type in sip.conf? Do you have limitonpeers=yes set in sip.conf?

friend

> Do you have limitonpeers=yes set in sip.conf?

We don't have this line (and the default seems to be "no").

Sorry about asking open-ended questions like that without explaining why I was asking them.

I have found (through experience, not through development) that SIP peers defined as type=peer work properly for showing their state on outgoing calls, and that SIP peers defined as type=friend will mostly work for showing their state on outgoing calls IF limitonpeers=yes is set. Essentially, the limitonpeers setting is supposed to allow for "friends" to have the call-limit applied on their outgoing calls too. Please give either of these options a try and see if they work properly. Thanks!

Yes, it works now.
(it seems as if this was not necessary with the 1.4 version)
Thanks for the help.

All right, great to hear! I'll just go ahead and close this report then.
