Here is a conversation I had with myself on IRC (don't ask) <Qwell> that would be exactly the opposite of what you would want if installing into a chroot <Qwell> if the chroot is /mnt/blah/, and you make install DESTDIR=/mnt/blah/, you most certainly don't want files pointing to /mnt/blah/etc/asterisk/blah.conf Please feel free to discuss on IRC or on the asterisk-dev mailing list.
