| Description: | Asterisk v1.2.12.1 - older Version but good to patch with some EC-Patches from mgernoth (MG2) I recognized two times since new year a failure i cant reproduce and cant log. All SIP functions disappearing in the night, i recognized it while i am starting work and my phone isnt registered, if i type in the CLI "sip show peers" or "sip reload" i get "no such command "sip"". I tried to reload chan_sip.so, but asterisk prints that chan_sip.so is already loaded, i cant use commands like "stop now" or "stop when convenient", there are not available. I guessed that there is some HD-Failure, but the drives are clean, e2fsck cant find anything so i installed smartd, and runs it periodically every third night and thought the problem is gone. After more than one month the same problem occures again. The only way to fix this is to recompile asterisk and (!) to turn off the power of the router, which is the switch for the asterisk-pc. I cannot reproduce or explain this, i can upgrade to a newer version - sure - but i better try to understand why this happens.. I dont want to report a BUG in Asterisk - i only wanted to search for some answers - google & the boards not really gives me an answer.. By the way ==> Big thanks for such a cool Asterisk-Project, i am using * in my business nearly since 16 months and never want to use anything else. ****** ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ****** installed components : misdn 0.3.1 rc 29 zaptel 1.2.9.1 asterisk 1.2.12.1 - patched with mg2-patch - patched with the bristuff-devstate-patch using raid 1 (lvm) on debian 3.1 sarge No log informarion from asterisk or the system that would be helpful | ||

Colp (jcolp) 2007-02-28 10:51:16.000-0600 We do need the latest version tested, and if this does happen again type help at the CLI prompt and see if the CLI commands are there. By: hobbystern (hobbystern) 2007-02-28 11:14:47.000-0600 For my Version - i typed help, the commands are still there, but there are no longer shown if i quit asterisk via KILL and restart. It seems like the chan_sip crashs but asterisk still stay alive, i hope i can never show you more of this problem, or better, i hope this problem never occure again ;) By the way, i will update to the latest 1.2.x version in the next time, but i must test everything on a test-system before i do this. 1.4 is actually not "my way" . Also, please note, that you will be required to show that issue appears on an *unpatched* version (no bristuff). | ||
