|Description:||i have installed SVN-branch-1.4-r56569|
now when a voicemail comes to my email box, the attachment is as large as a wav file but the attachment is a txt file called ATT00***.txt. it has the same size as the wav file. i tried changing the extension and it did not work

That's a problem with your mail client, not with Asterisk.

i did not change mail clients in the upgrade. i also changed the destination to root@localhost and it did the same thing. This is not a mail client issue.

It's not a problem with asterisk. I tried with latest svn version:
