Description:1. About Presence for IM client (for example windows messenger): Now I use version 1.0.3. In this version there is no function presence for IM clients. At a forum digium this theme was discussed. Whether there is a new software for asterisk with support of service presence?
2. Asterisk PBX (version 1.0.3 stable) uses for transmission SIP of messages only UDP protocol. And Live Communication Server 2005 uses for transmission SIP of messages TCP protocols and TLS. It is necessary, that Asterisk too supported TCP protocols and TLS for transmission SIP of messages. When it is possible to expect software renovation with support TCP and TLS?

This is in _no_  way a "major" bug; please read the bug posting guidelines before posting bugs in the future.

Asterisk does not have plans to support SIP over TCP (or TLS) in the near future; I've not heard of any discussion of that development happening at all. Any SIP servers/clients that mandate TCP and will not support UDP are non-RFC-conforming anyway, as RFC 3261 mandates that all SIP UAs support UDP at a minimum.

There has been discussion of supporting some IM-related functionality in Asterisk's SIP channel driver, but I don't know what the status of that is.

This is a feature request, that should be filed under that category. In this case though, I would not recommend it. You have a few options, one of the best is starting a bounty. Since this is a lot of work you are asking for, the bounty must reflect that.

Also, if you are interested in pursuing this from a design standpoint, feel free to discuss this on the mailing lists. SIP/TCP is doable, Instant messaging requires a re-architecture of Asterisk since we need to support messages that is not related to a voice call.

Feel free to find me on the IRC to discuss this, I'm "oej". As of know, I am closing this bug report, but can open it again when we have patches to test. The  bug report will remain in the archives. You might also want to search for a similar request for SIMPLE in the past here in the bug tracker to see some discussions.
