Description:ok ive talked to you guys about this before, but its becoming more of an issue all the time.  we have to use the |r switch on the dial statement to fake our ip phones into using ringing tones.  inband audio does not appear to be working, although there is evidence that its being used on the telecom side of the network (ztmonitor showed audio)

the setup is:

telecom network <-> asterisk with TE410P <-> asterisk outside firewall <-> SIP phone.

the server with the TE410P reports:
   -- Called g1/1433381638887260
   -- Zap/1-1 is ringing

the server that the sip phone is connected to reports:
-- Call accepted by 62.223.245.55 (format ULAW)
-- Format for call is ULAW
   -- IAX2/62.223.245.55:4569/1 is ringing

but the sip phone doesnt ring.  any ideas on how we can make it ring without using the "fake" |r switch.

How about some nice SIP debug on the side pointing to the phone?

added sip debug of the server where the phone is registered.  ringing tone isnt heard on the sip phone.  i am meeting with the manufacturers next week, and wish to persue this bug with them if its a fault within their sip stack.

For some reason we're doing 183 Session Progress instead of 180 Ringing, that suggests there is audio-inband before the RING.  We will, however, still generate in-band ringtone (or should) upon receiving the RINGING from the IAX side.  If you do an ethereal trace, can you see if Asterisk is sending audio to the SIP device?

ok i'll get a ethereal trace as soon as possible, but noone was at my office to do it these last two days and im in the middle of traveling to asia for a week.  i'll post an update ASAP.  feel free to temporarily close the bug, i'll reopen it if need be when i get the debug.
