This does not appear to be latest CVS head.

There have beeen numerous stability improvements in CVS *head* in the recent few weeks.  The bug report does not even mention if it's head or stable.  Do *not* use stable.

It's a bit difficult to determine for sure since the stack is obviously corrupted in this backtrace (were clone actually NULL it would have had to segfault several lines earlier), but in any case there were lots of fixes around this general area in the last few weeks.  If you can duplicate it again we can try to take a look at it and you can reopen.
