Description:Right now Im running CVS-HEAD 05/12/04

I've tried latest CVS as well and problem is still there.

Anything pre around 4/05/04 did not have this problem.

Calls via 7960 to asterisk which are on the same switch sound horrible, sometimes echo, incoming sounds are repeated and sound is skipped.

I dont know how to diagnose this, couldnt figure out etherreal, wouldnt monitor that phone. But I have this problem 9 out of 10 calls via my 7960 only, all BT's, sip softphones, iax softphones are fine as normal.

We use 7960's here consistently no issue, so this is almost certainly a 100% bogus bug.

Please check out clean copies of zaptel (if you're using it) and asterisk and do "make clean" and "make install" on them.

You need to respond to posts on here extremely quickly or this bug is going to disappear.

To help with diagnosis please tell if you're using zaptel.  If so, run zttest and tell me about its input and also make sure you have no "rxgain" or "txgain" settings in zapata.conf.

Also tell which application you are dialing which shows the poor audio problem.

I must agree with mark.  I use two 7960's DAILY out via nufone without one bit of jitter.

bkw

i also use 7960's, i've heard the problem he describes, and a jittery network could cause such a problem i think.

I'm running latest cvs-head and don't have the problem.

Here the list of problem I had with the same result he has :
- Asterisk process stuck at running at 100%
- Network problem (cable modem had very unreliable ping, changed MAC/Network CarD)
It strange, because the problem didn't always occur with everyone, it happen with nufone conference, but not using nufone or bkw conference.

It havent done it for a few week, except when my cable modem had problem.
Check your background process. And like kram says, update zaptel

I'm not using zaptel, I'm using the ztdummy module.

I'm using the Dial application... If I call from 7960 -> * for listening to voicemail, musiconhold, etc.. listening to Playback commands locally works fine.

It's when the call goes out via any IAX provider.

I don't believe it to be a problem with my network at all.

This has already been addressed and fixed in earlier bugs.  Please ask your IAX provider to update their version of Asterisk to latest CVS head.  Both you and your IAX provider will have to have latest CVS.

All three (3) IAX providers have the latest CVS, as do I. I'v verified the problem is only with all of our 7960's.  No other devices whatsoever. You seem to think the issue is resolved then go ahead and close the bug.  I guess there is no point in reporting bugs, because this is an obvious bug on my side and I have done everything you have asked as far as updating to the latest CVS, making sure that the IAX providers have the latest CVS as well, etc.  But once again, you feel it's resolved, so close the bug I guess.

I found a patch somewhere and it has fixed my problem.

Ill close the bug myself.

We're running latest CVS here.  I can take a 7960 -> SIP -> * -> IAX2 -> *  -> IAX2 -> *  -> SIP -> 7960.  And I can also do 7960 -> SIP -> * -> IAX2 -> * -> IAX2 -> * -> TDM -> Analog Telephone.  In both cases, the quality is fine and the CPU doesn't break a sweat.
