Description:The comment in the readme about extensions to the
evaluation engine are (it seems to me) false, and
unless something solid can be inserted as far as
a reference to a bug on bugs.digium.com, or the URL
of a file that can be picked up, I suggest deleting
the item, or at least replacing it with something else.

Here's the offending item:

2) My patches to asterisk that provide variable substitution and quoting to
the Asterisk Extension Logic. This is not really a requirement, but without
this, app_festival is mostly useless (you could very well use prerecorded
voices for static information).

I couldn't find any such references in the bug database,
in the source, and no-one responded to my query in the
dev mailing list. Not a good sign. Nor did the README
contain any trace of who wrote it.

--Perhaps something like this could be stated instead:

2. You may wish to obtain and install the asterisk-perl
module by James Golovich <james@gnuinter.net>, from
either CPAN, or his site: http://asterisk.gnuinter.net,
as this contains a good example of how variable text
can be tts'd via asterisk, namely the examples/tts-*.agi
files there. It has been noted that the current expression
evaluation capabilities of asterisk are not best suited
for the generation and manipulation of text. AGI scripting
can be ideal for these sorts of needs. For simpler usage,
fixed, pre-recorded messages may be more amenable for your
purposes.

-- What do you think? That's my 2 cents!
