Description: | it would be nice if we could install asterisk as user asterisk, to avoid having a remote root exploit if a bug is found sometimes. Maybe a config option to do this would be funky. And we could optionally set the config files read only, owned by root. ****** ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ****** Some people seem to already do it: http://www.marko.net/asterisk/archives/0210/0237.html | ||
Comments: | By: cypromis (cypromis) 2004-01-21 02:15:51.000-0600 All our asteriskses run as user asterisk without problems. Also the directory for install is changed to /opt/asterisk for the install. Did you have any problems doing that ? By: jrollyson (jrollyson) 2004-01-24 20:05:15.000-0600 Asterisk works fine without root, but you will have to adjust permissions on files and devices accordingly. This isn't realy a bug, but it would be nice to have the permissions set to be compatable with a non-root setup. Otherwise, this is working with some handicraft. Bug closed. |
