Description:When rotating the asterisk log files (specifically "messages"), upon creation of the new "empty" file, asterisk will not re-open the file for writing (thereby losing valuable logging messages) until it is restarted.

****** ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ******

Providing a mechanism for logfile rotation would be excellent.

this is what I use.  But it would be nice if asterisk used syslog... dup ticket also.  This has been covered once before on bugs.digium.com

Closing this out, since this can be solved by restarting Asterisk.  Additional comments as to why the current logging system sucks should be appended to http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000265  which discusses that topic at length.
